We just replaced our old water heater as it broke and now the new one has been in for a few days but the hot water has an odor to it. Can quite describe it, but it smells like burnt plastic?? I thought that it would go away after the water flushed out for a while, but there is definitely a smell there.

You sure it isn't a rotten egg smell?

Burnt plastic sounds more like dip tube...but you could be suffering from the minerals reacting to the anode rod. You could try changing out the anode rod to a less reactive one.
