Hey all,

Just got new pre-finished flooring to put throughout my second floor.

We bought a whole mess of materials all at once to take advantage of sales, and credit discounts... so I won't be installing the floor for another month or two.

I obviously have more than a few boxes of this stuff, and in order to spread the load out, yet still keep it from taking up too much room, I've stacked some on our enclosed front porch. The weather here in Jersey hasn't been the greatest so I'm getting a little concerned about it (oak btw...).

Anything I should worry about, aside from maybe having to leave it in the rooms to acclimate a bit longer? It's in no DIRECT contact with water... but as you may have seen on the news, the moisture levels in this area have been... um... a bit on the high side lately.

Thanks!
-BK

The new flooring should be stored(open) in the room where it will be installed, the longer the better, but the minimum is about 2 wks.

As long as enclosed porch is dry and well-ventilated, the wood should be fine. When you are ready to install in the individual rooms, move the required quantity to that room and let it acclimate (adjust) to temperature and humidity of that room.

great, thanks!

There will be plenty of time for acclimation.

A moisture meter is going to be your best friend, on those cartons.
