MrRonFL, your reply in the other thread worked perfectly for enabling the "instant" mode toggle.
I have a Caddx NX-6V2 with NX-1308E keypad
I have another problem. The monitoring company tech came today and activated my alarm to be connected to their monitoring station. After discussions with him and his manager, they agreed to leave the master code and programming codes as default after programming the unit.
I confirmed that both codes worked.
Now the master code is assigned to user number "01" and I see it has authority levels 4,5,6,7 as before.
The problem is that trying to add a new code by pressing *5[master] and then any number from 02 to 40 will result in 3 beeps so basically I am not able to add new codes.
I wanted to add a new master code before changing the "01" code from its default value and then add a new user code.
Help pleeese. Thanks in advance

We aren't here 24-7...
You are describing the correct keystrokes. *5 + [master code] + [2-digit user number] + [new code] + # should be giving you a new secondary code. There's no grey area on this, unless the new code you are trying to program is a duplicate of one already programmed into the system.

MrRonFL,
Thanks for the reply. It is really weird. I still cannot add any codes. I changed the default 1234 at 01 to something else and it still shows as a master code. I enabled also using the programming code as a master arming code.
How can I get the panel to pick up the line when using the dl900 software? I tried *99 when the phone rang but it kept ringing.
Thanks again.

Hmmm, this has the feeling of one of those things where if I saw exactly what you are doing, I might spot the miskey. Again, as described, you are doing exactly what the instructions state.
Much the same goes for the DL software. Just _how_ are you dialing into the system? Through a outside phone line, or are you trying some form of direct wire in? There is an access code that has to match location 19 for the panel, and one of the setup settings in the software. If your monitoring company used a remote programmming, then they probably changed that code.

Thanks a million for replying.
I am really puzzled by not being able to access the user codes. Even putiing *6 [master] and any code from 02 to 40 hives me 3 beeps!! I was able to program additional codes perfectly before the monitoring company activated my system.
The monitoring company did the programming remotely so I am worried they may have changed the code in location 19 from the default 848000000.
I am locked out of locations 19-21 which I believe is due location 21, number 7.
I am trying to use the software by dialing through a modem and an outside phone line from my laptop. The phone rings but the panel does not anwer. My thinking is that even if the code in location 19 was the same, I would have expected the panel to pick up the line but the downloads fails.

OK. I got the monitoring company to unlock the download section so now I have all programming sections open.
I still have the issue of not being able to add any user codes other than the mater code number "01". User code number 02 to 40 are not acceptable as locations for programming.

Get yourself a NX586E direct connect module...about $40 or so. This will let you connect directly from your laptop to the data bus. No modem, no phone line required...

Double check that your "master" code has master code authority level. Your company may have turned this off on you (Authority level 4 in *6 programming)

My master code has the correct authority level "4". It has 4,5,6,7.
What's weird is that I got my new monitoring company "Next Alarm" to download my system to their end. They could add 2 more user codes to my system, and they work fine on my end. However I cannot see them by *6 or change them by *5. I can do all what I want to the master code in "01". Weird.
I may try getting the NX586E as I am having some issues trying to connect via modem.

On a hunch, try checking the partition authority for the master code. That's about the only thing I can think of that might produce the effect you are describing.
Otherwise, I'm at a loss, there really aren't many ways to lock out the master code from access to the secondary codes.

Try this..Go to location 21 in panel programming. Check segments 5,6,7. Are any of these on?? I'm thinking maybe someone turned on #5, "Lock out local programming". Worth a shot...

MrRonFL and GEGUY, thank you both for the valuable help.
Partition authority is set for 1 and 2 for the master code as what it should be, I think. Adding or removing partition authority for the blank code, as the manual may have hinted, made no difference.
All options in location 21 are turned off.
The programming guy at NextAlarm is currently at a loss regarding what could be the issue after spending 2 hours with me trying to get the user code problem fixed. His only suggestion now is to call the GE Caddx support line. He thinks that I know enough to pass an installer and may be they can help me. He believes that the panel my be defective now for some reason.

I've got "my guys" working on this, hope to hear back from them soon!

I spent a bit of time with a bench system, and I can't duplicate this effect. I have the feeling that if we actually saw Alex trying to key in this command, we might spot something he's doing or not doing.

the only thing i can think to try now is to set the installer code authority level to master arm/disarm and try that code to change users.
location 43 segment 1 number 4 on. segment 2, 1and2 on.
if that don't work I think you have a bad system board.

umpire1101, thanl for the reply. I did enable the installer code as a master arm code already and it still doesn't allow me to add other users. Downloading the panel setup, codes can be added and they work fine. The issue however is when trying to add or change codes other than user "01" from the keypad.

Try this, try using user code 2 to change user code 2.
*5 [code 2] 02
Let me know......

umpire1101, that didn't work which I think is because "code 2" is not a master code so after punching in *5 [code 2], nothing happened. The armed light didn't flash like it does when punching in *5 [master code].
