HI,I' was wondering if its o'k to replace the reed switch on a live circuit?just don't short the wire end? as too avoid reprogramming the system

proper selecting of reed switches?IE: ohms resistance, how do I' select these?

I' noticed that each zone terminates on the CB using a resister, why do they reduce the voltage at the terminal?

4 band resistor
resistor color is Lt brown
G+R+B+G+
GOLD-RED-BLACK-GOLD?

thank you

Actually, that's brown black red gold (1000 ohm at 5% tolerance)

You can change zone switches with the power on at will. The supervison voltage is minimal, and the contacts are normally closed switches in any case. The point of the resistor is to provide as reference resistance to the loop. Properly placed, the resistor can allow you to intermingle normally closed and normally open devices on the same loop, as well as providing overall loop supervision.

In practice, on most residential systems, they install the resistor at the panel terminals, effectively making it a Normally Closed loop system.

Any standard alarm contact that fits your desired configuration will work.
