Is it possible to put ceramic tile over brick on a fireplace? I was planning on using tapcons to secure the backer board to the brick, then the tile and grout on that. Sound plausible? Any suggestions? Thanks...

Is your flue a triple wall metal flue, or is this an original brick fireplace? You can attach the backer to the brick joints, but you don't want to infiltrate the chimney area, so a little heat resistant glue may help as well.
