I have an old Merc sn 1863434 that won't engage into reverse. The lever goes but I think I have some broken linkeage in the lower end. I have dismantled the lower end but how do I get the final large gear and the gear on the end of the driveshaft off, ( a small crown type gear that I removed the bolt on the end) to remove the piece behind? This piece(that I thhink needs replacing ) attaches or fits on the end of the gear shifting rod which I have removed already? The motor was given to me and I believe it is about a 10hp outboard.
Thank you for any help
