I have a Rheem hot water heater. It is not leaking but it no longer gets the water hot at all. I was told that it probably needed the bottom element replaced. How do i get to it, check it, and change it if needed?

Turn the power to the heater off. Put a hose on the bottom of the tank and open it when water comes out turn cold water off to the tank open some hot water valves in the home.

To just check element turn power off to tank. Pull wires off bottom element and ohm it out with meter. Also check the tstat's up and down make sure they are ok

If Ed's concise explanation is hard to decipher (it makes perfect sense to me) then post back and I will give you the long version.
