Which is better the premix or the type that you mix? I have heard that the type you mix is better and dries much quicker. I heard if you go that route you could actually have it done in a day

You typed spackle. Do you mean joint compound?

I've heard folks refer to joint compound as both spackle and putty, neither are correct.
I'll assume you have some new drywall you want to finish. The powder bags like durabond or easy sand dry quicker and can speed up the finishing process. Once mixed they have a limmitted pot life and they are harder to sand than the conventional premixed j/c.
Depending on the job it is possible for drywall work to be done in 1 day. I wouldn't want to do any drywall work other than a repair in that short of a time span.
