I just bought a 3pk. of recessed lights for $16.99
I got a great deal on them. And better yet, they
are halogen/low voltaged type. Even though halogen
throws off more heat, it makes the cast of light brighter
than your typical recessed light i think. My question is,
do they make tools to go on electric power tool/drill
to cut through the wood/ceiling. ceiling would be only about
1/2" or less thickness. Are there any other ways i can cut through?
thanks. I know they make the recessed light cutters to got through
the ceiling but i've only seen them in 4" and 6". My recessed cans
are only 3" in diameter about so how do i go about this?
thanks.

They make hole saws in any size you want up to 4 inch that will fit in a 1/2 in drill chuck. If you can't find them local check out Grainger or MC Master-Carr.
I usually run them backwards for drywall cause I tend to get a cleaner cut that way.
Do not cut through any wooden framing members. Make sure your layout misses these. If you have plaster, you can cut through the wooden slats, or lath boards.
