I want to make an opening 5ft. wide by 32in. high, for a counter area through a bearing wall between a kitchen and a dining room. This is a support wall to a bedroom upstairs. The total wall length is 13ft. and a has a 3ft. entry opening to walk between the two rooms at the inside end of the wall. I would like to find out what size header beam should I use to support the opening.
