Three months ago I installed two 175W MH wallpacks at my church.
In the beginning they both worked fine. But now the downstream fixture works at best maybe 10% of the time.
Double checked for water leakage - none.
I even replaced the entire ballast and used a new bulb - no help.
Both are controlled by a timer so I had someone manually override the timer while I watched what happened.
After the normal delay, the good fixture came up and worked as usual.
The jinxed fixture flickered like it was trying to light. After 15 seconds or so it flickered again and repeated these attempts for maybe 5 cycles, but never did light.
This is a symptom of what?
There are some other details of the installation that may be pertinent, but I should think they would affect both fixtures.
I can detail if necessary.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

you have to be carefull with the 175 w MH they do come in two common verison one is probe start and other one called pulse start system.

did you get correct bulb by reading the ballast label saying in there ??

what voltage system you are running on the wall pack ?

{ most med to large wall pack useally come with mutli tap ballast which you have to check the system voltage vs the line voltage to get hook up correct }

some case i heard but it do happend some have bad capaitor between bulb and ballast if so it will cause hard starting.

the other thing is that you may have to check for loose connection inside of wallpack unit[s]

if you can get the ballast #'s that will help me more clear so i can tell you the correct bulbs some wallpack have to use specal horztital burning bulb but i dont know until i know what brand that is

I can't help you with your problem, but I can offer a word of caution.

Unless you are a licensed electrician (and properly in sured, etc.), be very careful what you do outside of your own house, especially in a public building like a church.

You are setting yourself up for heavy liability in the event something you did causes a problem. One mistake (with disastrous results) and you could find yourself in jail for the rest of your life.
