I have a Sears oven/range with electronic controls, model 665.75832. It is about 4 years old. The oven started cutting out intermittently. It would start up and get up to temperature but then it would randomly cut out. You could restart it, it would get back up to temperature and then it would randomly cut out again. It only did this a couple times. Now it does not light at all. When I try the broiler, the control will click twice like it is trying to light but the glow igniter does not glow. I do get a whiff of gas after it tries to light though. When I try to start the oven, it does not click like it would when trying to start and the igniter does not glow and no gas smell. I have checked the connections and they seem to be secure. The burn tubing is all clear. I have not yet checked the glow igniters to see if they are functional but does this sound like a glow igniter problem? Would the broiler glow igniter go bad? I never used the broiler. This oven has the electronic touchpad controls. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello kent863 and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and the Gas Appliances topic.
Based upon the problem descriptions, (oven and broiler) replacing the glow igniter(s), Hot Surface Igniter(s) (HSI) should resolve the problems.
Complete details and instructions are posted in the sticky note.

Hi, I have a Kenmore oven, less than 5 years old, which fails to light. Within the past few months the oven would heat up to the set temperature and then cut out periodically. Then it started taking longer and longer to ignite. Now, it will not ignite at all. When I turn on the oven, I hear the click from the electronic control panel but no click from the gas valve and no gas smell. When I turn on the broiler, I hear the click from the control panel then several clicks from the gas valve but it does not ignite and I also detect the faint smell of gas. On the advice of several people (including this forum) I replaced the igniter (and burn bar). This did not correct the problem and, of course, the igniter is a non-returnable item. First question is what should my next move be? I'm thinking possibly call the repairman. <g> Also, any ideas on where I can sell a brand new igniter/burn bar? I appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

Hello: kent863
I will try to locate your previous post and merge it into this one, if I can find it. That way there will be some continuation (continuity) to the subject and we will know where our progress is thus far.
There newly purchased parts should remain in the oven if they are still installed. There is no place I know of where they can be sold as used parts. :(
Chances are the gas control valve is defective. Usually, glow igniter and gas valves are installed at the same time. Replacing a glow igniter (Hot Surface Igniter) only sometimes works and other times does not. In this instance, likely the old igniter was weak glowing and the gas control valve is defective.
Suggestion now is to replace the gas control valve. The part the burner is installed on and the thermostat is attached to. That part may be defective (worn out)
The click at the control panel is a good sign the touch pad and main circuit board are functioning correctly. Also indicate the current is being sent to the igniter.

I failed to mention that the brand new igniter does not glow after I hear the click from the control panel in the top of the stove. It is an L-shaped igniter. When I purchased it, the salesperson said they'd never seen one like it although it was exactly like the one I removed from the stove. Unfortunately, I've never seen an igniter glow so I don't know what it would look like but this one defintely does not change color at all. I'm thinking perhaps it is not getting power? Or do some of the igniters not glow at all? I have traced the wiring from the glow igniter to the circuit board along with all the other connections and they all seem secure. Would a faulty gas valve prevent the igniter from activating?
