Sounds like I have a similar problem---- I had some knucklehead landscapers working in yard and they covered the vent, wife ran the dryer all afternoon trying to get it to heat, sigh. Now the first solenoid doesn't click. Is there a fail-safe to keep the solenoid from contacting if there is too much back pressure? Is there a reset? If not, what failure does blocking the vent cause?
THANKS!
THANKS!

Hello: CDCLW
I separated your post from a prior outdated thread. Your question is now a newly posted question.
Chances are the dryer has been over heated repeatedly while the exhaust vent was covered. Which may have burned out the glow igniter (HSI) or the flame sensor. Which is located on the right side of the burners shroud.
Another possibility may be burned out solenoids. Which are located on top of the gas control valve. Or there may be a fuse-able link in the electrical wiring system.
Link likely located on the blower housing or on the vents discharge sheet metal tubing, inside the machine. If there is a removable rear panel where the vent tubing is located, remove that panel and look for a fuse-able link attached to the vent tube.
Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the most likely possible problem may be. They will need the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts and problem resolving matters. Dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.
Be sure the electrical power to the appliance is turned off, before attempting any repairs or services. Always check for gas leaks whenever moving the appliance and/or a service or repair includes any connection of a gas part.
