I would be grateful of any advice on this. Ive just moved into a new property and i wonder if my electrics have problems as my bulbs keep blowing even when ive only just put new ones in. It keeps tripping the lights out every time and when i look i find yet another bulb gone. Does this mean i have bad wiring and there are electrical surges? Thanks, mysummer

The first thing to determine is whether this is happening: (A) in just one fixture, (B) in mutiple fixtures on the same circuit, (C) in multiple fixtures on multiple circuits.
Are the bulb blowing after one second of use, one minute of use, one day of use, one week of use, one month of use, or ...?

Hi, thank you for your reply, they blow from multiple fixtures and ive only had problems with the downstairs bulbs. One blew immediately others have taken a few days or a few weeks. The guy that did the survey said it needed a new junction box and the guy i bought the house off said he had fixed this before I moved, not sure if he did.

I will suggest try to use the 130 volt bulb[s] to see if it slove it some issuse you have there.
If not then you may have " loose netural " somewhere in your house if that is true then call the POCO first to check their side [ most of the time power company will useally not charge this for checking out ]
If the POCO side is good then you have inside wiring issuse what we call ' Multiwire branch circuit " this is pretty compated to explain but goggle " multiwire branch circuit " also " loose netrual " both will explain pretty good on this detail here.
If you have other question please do feel free to ask us here
thanks again
Merci , Marc

To determine if all these fixtures are on one circuit, see if you can remove power from all of them by turning off a single circuit breaker in your panel.
