We recently purchased a flat panel LCD. Previously, our old tv lived in an entertainment cabinet that was fairly high. We were able to take the top off of our old entertainment piece and set the LCD on top of the low cabinet part of the unit- great use of old furniture, but now there is a huge blank area over the tv (the walls are 12', the tv top hits at about 5'). Before, we were able to get away with a long, narrow photo over the tv, but it looks really bare now. Any rules for what to do? Any ideas? I don't want anything too busy, that would compete with your eye when watching tv.

what about just painting a wide stripe, floor to ceiling, right behind the tv unit? maybe 12" wider than the unit. sort of like how a floor to ceiling fireplace would look, but instead, it would just be this vertical band of color. your eye would be drawn up to accentuate the height, but without using a picture or mirror or some other wall decor that would compete with the tv. then maybe hand 2 items on each side of the band to anchor it.
how wide is this wall the tv is on? and what items, if anything, are on each of the tv?

Can you take a picture of it and post it online through photobucket or somewhere and then post the link? That usually helps with ideas...
