Several days ago our large patio umbrella was blown over in a storm. The umbrella was NOT open. The pole snapped about 12" above where it slides into the base.
I've seen utility poles repaired using 2 half-circle metal plates that were bolted around the break. What does one call that piece? I've googled "pole brace", "pole clamp" and patio umbrella repair and came up with nothing.
TIA,
Jim

Find a metal pipe the pole will fit into, then screw it together.

The clamp you are describing is similar to a form of plumbing repair clamp.I've never seen one that large but that doesn't mean it isn't out there.Usually they come with rubber sheets and are used to repair a puncture or hole in a pipe or tubing and not used to splice two peices together. You'd probably be better off finding pipe to go inside the broken peice as a coupling.
