Good day all,

I have limited experience installing recessed lighting but I'm putting some in now. The install of the housing is no problem but any trim pieces I've used before have had the 2 extension springs that clip on the slots in the housing. Without looking them over I picked up some "open" type trim pieces because I liked the looks of them. After getting home I discovered that they use a totally different type of spring and I can't for the life of me figure out how they work.

Prehaps someone here is knowledgable enough to help me, I believe the difference between the two is that one is referred to as a "baffle trim" and the other as a "open trim".

Do they require a special housing?

I can provide pictures if it's necesarry.

Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Mitch

Are the trim and can from the same manufacturer?
