I am building an outdoor fireplace (not a fire pit) and I am wondering if anyone out there has experience building one as well. I have about 600 bricks that I pulled up from a patio in my yard and I am assuming that will be enough. The site that I will be putting the fireplace is just dirt at this point. I am assuming I will need to pour a concrete slab for a foundation for the fireplace and after that I am not sure what to do.

If anyone has any tips (any at all) on how to adhere the bricks to the concrete slab or how to actually build the fireplace itself, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

The same mortar you use to lay the brick will be used to lay the first course of brick on the slab.

Find some plans to get ideas. There are many possible designs. Find plans to accomodate the number of brick you have unless you can get additional brick. You will fire brick for the interior lining of the firebox.

Lay out the design on the slab. Keep everything, straight, square, plumb, and level. Hopefully, the pros will join in with more specific details. Good luck with your project.
