I am thinking of getting my house repointed....i worked at a house where they had a very nice job done...so the guy gave me the contracters number

the contractor came down and gave me a fair price but I am skeptical because he was gonna put a very thin layer over the existing mortar joint and not remove any previous material....it would be the most like 3/16 of an inch thick!!(the new material)....is this correct??

or is this shotty work?

doesn't seem like a quality job

If there is no need to remove damaged mortar, then there is no real need for repointing. Are you trying to change the color of the mortar?

no I am not changing color....just some tiny cracks and holes here and there
