I would like to install a new fan to my bedroom upstairs. One wall switch controls 1/2 of a receptacle of which I would like to have the switch now control the new fan and the existing receptacle always hot.

The back of my wall switch has one black and one red lead, no ground. The receptacle has one switch hot, one constant hot, one white neutral and one ground.

All wiring is run into an accessible attic. Can someone give me guidance how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Tell us ALL of the wires in the switch box and how they are connected and tell us ALL of the wires at the switch and how they are connected. Even tell us wires that are not connected to the switch or receptacle. We need to know exactly what cables are present, what wires are in those cables and how they are connected to anything.
