How do I go about changing the color of plain white shades, what kind of paint would I use? I know I shouldn't use anything that will catch on fire, this is why I am asking. Thanks, KoalaKell

If fabric, you can sponge on dye, cover with new fabric, or enhance with colored ribbon.

I've used spray paint on lampshades. They've got spray paints for every kind of material. Don't know if it's the best way, but it is another option.

also, be aware that if you're going from white or ivory shade to a solid dark color, you will be greatly reducing the amount of light you get from that lamp.

I kinda like the sponge idea! I would like a soft warm glow. If I need a bright light I'll just put the over head lights on.
