I have pink 1" foam board around the outside of my block foundation. WHY? What can I do to cover/paint/parge it to make it look good and keep it from breaking down if kicked/hit w/weed eater, etc.?

There should be dirt covering it, and yes, you need to do something to shield it from sunlight.

The concrete block foundation is up three course before the siding begins. The exposed block was then covered with this pink foam board. There was no backfill of dirt and it cannot be done. I need something to cover the foam. The previous owner had just painted it which has since peeled off.
