Hello,

I'm thinking of redoing the skin of a house I have my eye on. It's a stucco house - very dated- and I want to update it by painting and adding thin stone veneer to some of the facade. It's a Florida home.

I'm a newbie although I'm always game for a new challenge. Am I asking for trouble with this one? If I cave and hire a mason, can anyone suggest the sort of info I would need to gather in order to be sure that the mason is up to this sort of task?

Thanks -

As long as the stucco is unpainted and solid, you should have no issues at all.

The stucco is solid - but it is painted.

Then you will have to remove more of the paint than is practical or relath the surface, adding at least 1/2" of depth, plus the depth of stone.
