Hi- I have a recessed light over my shower stall which is hooked to the same light switch that puts 3 other lights on in the bathroom. When I turn the lights on, this one light in particular will sometimes comes on and most of the time does not. I know the light bulb is good. Also, strange thing, it was not going on for a while and then I used my central a/c for the first time in a few months and the light came on the next time I flipped the switch. But, it was probably a coincidence since it did not come on since...... Any recommendations for me on how I can solve this issue? Thanks

Check the wiring at the light and at the light that feeds this one. It sounds like you have a loose connection.

Thanks, do these light also have some sort of fuse or thermal something in them?

Yes, all cans have a thermal protect in them. When you're having thermal problems, the light will come on until it heats up, shut off until it cools down, and then repeat. It doesn't sound like that's what's happening here.

Hi John- yes that is correct. When I pull down the can will it be obvious where the loose connection will be?

When you remove the can you will be able to access the box that feeds the can, where the connections are made.
I suggest that before you start you visit a big box store and look at how recessed cans are put together.

On the assumption that they are easier to get to, I suggest you start by checking the connections in the other light fixtures. The loose connection may be there, and, if so, will save you the trouble of pulling down the can.

If 1 of the other fixtures are a fan, start there. Vibration etc...
