OK! OK! I stupidly loaned out my riding lawnmower. (Yes, it was family!) When I got it back 2 years later the wiring was cut, unhooked and in some cases totally missing. I have been able to get the basic wiring in place so it will turn over without any problem.

Unfortunately I can't get any spark. What do I need to check for??

Oh my word.

Well, since you already know you have no spark, I'd start there. Remove the kill wire from the coil and check for spark again. If still no spark, the coil is bad, or the air gap between it is wrong (should be .010"). Now, if the coil is bad, before you connect the kill wire to a new coil, make sure that under no circumstances does 12 volts ever appear at that kill wire, or it will burn up the new coil as well. With the mower in the condition it's in, you never know what kind of monkey business has been done. It could have the wrong keyswitch in it, which could cause the coil to burn up. Could be wired incorreclty, etc...

Once we get the spark issue corrected, we'll move on to the next problem (sounds like you may have multiple probs?).
