I am working with loop pile carpet and I’m not sure of the proper way to cut it. I have read that loop pile should be cut from the top side but normally when cutting a chalk line is made on the backing and cut from the back side. I need to make some seams and want to get it right. So can I cut from the back? Or if I must cut from the top how can I keep it straight with an over 200 in. long cut? In a “nut shell” how do I cut loop pile properly? FYI I do have a carpet cutter with a "row opening" tip.
