i have a home that is three years old,we have a strong sulfer smell and a iron content in the water, i went out and bought a water softner and a iron/ sulfer greensand filter, that uses potasium permagate.all is well for two years, then i am having a problem with my leach field, it is backing up,my builder and his people tell me that backwashing the greensand filter is blocking the draining in the leach field with a fine slime from the permagate,we have a clayish- sand fill in my area ,please help ??????

You need to bring in a water treatment pro to evaluate your water conditions, examine the solution you chose and implemented, and see what else is going on. The pro needs to "treat the symptom and cure the disease"... you can't be killing your leach field in 2-3 years. Well, you can but you're not going to want to pay for what that will cost.
If your leach field is pooched you have got yourself a VERY EXPENSIVE PROBLEM there and you'll still need to resolve your water treatment problem.
Your water conditions are not "run of the mill" and not easily treated by a DIYer. With the limited info about your water in your post it's hard to help but you should have brought in a water treatment pro from the beginning.
Your water quality is important, don't fool around.
Please let us know what you find out and good luck.
