Welcome to the forums Haley
IMO it is never a good idea to paint ceramic tiles.
If you google tile paint you should be able to get info on what coatings are available.

Hi, welcome to the boards.
IMO means In My Opinion.
Tile painting can be done, and quite sucessfully provided you are ready for some physical labor.
First you need to CLEAN the tile. And I mean get out the comet, and a 3M scrubby/scratch pad. This will remove any surface grease/soap scum, and help de-gloss the tile glaze.
Then you will need to rince the heck out of the surface. When it dries, take a black (or other dark) cloth and wipe surface. Examine. If there is any dust, or powder, rinse again. Repeat until cloth wipes clean, as any residue will affect adhesion (how well the paint sticks).
Then, roll on a coat of XIM UMA primer. Not XIM solvent primer, but UMA. It is crucial that it is XIM UMA, as it is a Urathane Modified Acrylic. This primer will adhere to the tile, and also accept the topcoat.
**********************************************************
Improtant note at this point. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not do all of this work up to this point, and then give into temptation, and "test" the primer. Don't scratch, pick, poke, ask your neighbor to come over and pick at it, put tape on it and pull it off......you get the picture. LEAVE IT ALONE. It will take about 30 days for a full cure, but you may topcoat next day!
If you do not follow this advice and write in wanting to know why your "primer isn't sticking", you will be mocked, and ridiculed.
**********************************************************
After topcoat has dried for 24 hours topcoat with a product called "Tub and Tile". I think it is made by XIM coincidently, but I cant recall for sure. Brush, or smooth foam roller (be careful to get solvent reisitant foam, or it will melt...literally). Use a china bristle brush. Don't spend $30.00 on it, but if you get the $2.00 special, you will get the $2.00 special job. Complete with stray brush hairs that shed intermittantly in your coating.
Don't hose it on, and strike it off when brushing, and resist the urge to keep brushing it over and over. If you overwork it, you will see brush marks.
Depeding upon job, you may need 1 or 2 quart kits. If you don't use all of 1 kit, place remainder (sealed of course) in your FREEZER. This will halt the catalzation, until you are ready the next day. Take it out of freezer 1 hour before application. DO NOT OPEN, and let warm up on counter. If you open, you risk condensation in the product.
Apply 2nd coat, and keep out of bathroom for about 1 week before use with water contact.
Done correctly, this will be a lifetime change for your tile.
You may also consider a disposable respirator, as the topcoat is epoxy, and stinks to high heaven. Open some windows, and a fan for ventilation.
Good luck!

Mocking and ridiculing another member is against the rules!
We do reserve the right to say 'I told ya so'
When painting tubs or tile, proper prep is VERY important!!!! Most diy failures are caused by a step skipped or not done throughly.

Oh, I meant that I would mock and ridicule in a PM. And only giggle a bit when saying "I told ya so".
