Hey guys, the interior of the house is knockdown (texture) and now ready for priming and painting. The house is empty and windows etc. are all masked. So how should I go about it.. I have an air compressor on hand if thats any help. The primer and paint is latex, so I'm guessing I can not use a HVLP sprayer? Is that correct. Should I just forget about the sprayer and go with the rollers? If I can spray, what type of sprayer should I get.
Thanks,
Raul

if you can spray go with an airless or AA. You will probably not have access to an air-driven airless, so get an electric one and put your compressor away. Are you going to be renting a sprayer? if so, look for a piston pump, diafram pumps only work so-so. do not try to spray your house with an HVLP, you will get very bored as it may take all day to do one room. If you do not plan on painting again with a sprayer, go rent one. If you do plan on using it often, you may want to look into buying one, but not a cheap one. look to spend at least about $500. if you spend less, your sprayer will probably only last a few jobs.

I agree with using an airless sprayer. If you spray both the primer and the finish, be sure to back roll the finish coat - the job will look better and the paint will be more apt to touch up.

If you've got about 3 weeks of free time, the HVLP would be great. As the slowest method (spraying) it would not be the best choice for spraying walls.
Contact your local professional paint store, and see if they offer a discount on airless equipment rental if you purchase your material from them. Many times they will, and will also deliver the goods so you don't dirty up the car.
As an added bonus, usually they will show you how to use the equiment. Make sure they cover the safty concerns with airless!
Good luck!
