Fridge ( 5 years old) was working fine, power gets turned off in house and stays off for a couple of months (rental property) and upon power being turned back on the fridge won't get cool. Found dead mouse (yuck!!) stuck in fan and removed. The fan began to spin and I assumed it would then cool. However tenant has informed me the fridge still isn't cooling. Any ideas???

Need to know if the compressor is running, before addressing anything else.

Tenant tells me the compressor is running. Someone told me to check the defrost timer??? Sound logical???

Third party diagnosing is not that great of an idea. You should really check it out yourself.

It would not be the defrost timer if the compressor was running. It COULD be the defrost timer if the compressor was NOT running. It is the way refrigerators are wired that one can't occur while the other is occuring...in the same way a green traffic light can't happen at the same intersection where the cross road has a green light.

It could be the adaptive defrost control board. It is actually a very common problem, since it's all electronic, and the board controls several things, all inter related. maybe that was confused with defrost timer. Is it a side by side? Does the freezer work, just not the fridge, or does anything get cold? Does the compressor run all the time? Can you hear the fan in the freezer working? did you clean the condenser coils? did you check the evaporator coils (inside freezer) to see if they were frozen up?
