After reading many past threads about refrigerator icemakers I came to the conclusion last night that mine had ice in the fill tube. Sure enough, upon inspection that was the problem.

Now the problem is how do I get it out?? I got out the ice pieces that I could reach with an ice pick/screw driver. I don't want to be too rough with the thing, but I honestly don't see how to get the ice or the tube out to clear it. I took the plate off of the fridge back and the tube appears to be glued almost permanently to the case. It might come out but I wanted to ask before going further.

The refrigerator is one of these fairly new Kenmore Elite Side-by-Side bottom freezer models.

Also, why did the ice for in the tube to start with?? That's been bothering me since last night.

Thanks,
Bugman

Did you figure your problem out?My daughter has a similar Kenmore Elite Trio side by side with freezer on the bottom.Water just trickles out of the door dispensor and it barely makes ice.I thought about pulling the plug and let the whole thing thaw out to see if any blockage clears.Otherwise I'm thinking the inlet valve has a problem, but I hate to just throw parts at it especially when that valve is $62.This fridge is only about 18 months old.
