I received a 29.5" x 41.5" beveled mirror that has a wood frame with a burnished bronze finish as a wedding gift. It doesn't match anything in my house. Is it possible change the finish on the frame? If so, what would be required?

This would greatly depend on what finish you wanted to replace the exisiting one with and to a lesser extent how the mirror is made.It would be generally easier to paint the frame versus stain since stain must penetrate the wood and that means stripping off the old bronze finsih.Painting would require proper prep(scuff sanding and cleaning) and primer and paint.

If the mirror is easily removed from the frame this would make the job much easier rather than "dancing" around the mirror while trying to prep for and then apply whatever you're going to put on the frame.Mirror glass can be damaged by chemicals and cleaners plus you'd get a better overall job done on the frame without the mirror in it.
