I just purchased a GE washer. Everything fine... Unlike my old Whirlpool lid switch, the GE seems to be a magnetic type... Is there any way to out-smart this thing so I can watch the various cycles with my new washer??

I think the idea of the switch is that it can outsmart someone trying to outsmart it...for safety reasons. Not good peering down with the spin cycle going while your hoody strings are dangling in there.

I'll keep my hoody strings out... Does anyone know how to bypass?

Sure. Open up the lid and jumper the two wires to the lid switch together.

If you feel you must...unplug the machine first.
