My husband has been trying to install a sink fixture. He has given up for the night. He is now trying to turn the water back on (he has had the whole house cut off for hours now). When he does, the water gushes out from the supply lines in the wall.
Can we not have a faucet installed and still turn on the water to the rest of the house without flooding the kitchen for the fifth time?
Please help! Thank you!

you need to either have a shut off valve on the supply line or solder a cap on the end .
if there was no valve that should have been the first thing he did , then he could have turned the water on to the rest of the house and take his time installing the sink

There is a valve, but we think it may be faulty. Earlier, when he turned the valve to the cold water all the way off, the faucet still ran as if he had never turned off the water.
He bought a valve to replace it, but it was the wrong one. Now the stores are all closed because it's Sunday. Are we out of luck for the night?
Thanks for your reply!

why not take the faucet off the sink and hook it up temporarily so you can turn the water on ?
(for future use I keep half a dozen or so caps in my plumbing box in case I need to cap a line in a emergency situation , cheap insurance )

We are going to try that. Thanks! I was about to think I was headed for a hotel for the night! :)
My husband said he now knows why people like plumbers get paid what they do!
He was trying to follow the picture directions for installing our new Pegasus faucet. There are not words- only pictures. About 4 years ago my husband installed a faucet, and he said it was not this complicated!
Are Pegasus faucets known for being hard to install? Any idea where we could get some written directions?
Thanks!
