I just repaired some holes in drywall. The previous owner of our house left some primer and paint for the same wall I repaired so I just put on some primer. The strange thing is the primer is tinted and is darker then the wall color. The wall color is a light yellow and the primer looks a fair bit darker.
What should I do about this? Hopefully the primer will lighten as it drys but it would have to lighten a fair bit.

That wouldn't be that unusual to have a yellow tinted primer a shade or two darker than the paint

If it's quite a bit darker, or you are concerned the color variation will show through (yellow is a tough one), then primer the whole wall

A lot of times the customer will change their mind after they see the primer. When the color they picked is bolder or brighter than they envision, they will often change to a lighter shade for the top coat.
