I am having problems with my Kinetico 50 not regenerating itself properly. I have spent the last few months regeneration it myself (when I can remember). I called my local Kinetico service (Indianapolis, IN) and they wanted $95 service charge to come out and look at it... plus parts and labor to fix it for a total of approx. ~$200-700. I found that hard to swallow, especially since I am capable myself. Therefore, today I have searched all 822 threads in this forum looking for a fix. I have just finished taking apart the head; cleaning and very lightly lubing the pistons, valves and O-rings. I did not take apart the top since the gears spun easily. The O-rings all seemed in great shape. The only apparent wear was at three cone-shaped rubber valves. They were slightly dished at the contact points but seemed to be sealing OK. The 4 larger cone shaped valves were very tight and took some pressure to actuate. They are now actuating much easier after cleaning/lubing. I believe I successfully got it back together and cycled it through 2 regeneration cycles. I think I heard the disk/gears click once while water was running in the house. Is there anything that I missed or need to do to make it work properly and regenerate by itself?
This is the only forum on the web that I have found where people are willing to share their knowledge (proprietary?) about Kinetico systems, and I greatly appreciate it.

There are many variables whenever trying to diagnose a mecahnical problem and even more difficult without inspecting it directly. I sent a message to you, so please check that.

You might also consider rinsing the brine valve and getting a water sample tested at the pressure tank to insure your brine adjuster tube is cut to the correct salt dosage for the cycle disc in use and water hardness. I recently went through this process only to realize my water conditions had changed which required a higher brine dose than had been initially set some years prior.
Everything was metering on schedule, just wasn't getting a good regeneration.
