I have a GE dryer model # DBXR453EV0WW. The timed cycle works but the automatic cycle does not. It drys the clothes on the automatic cycle but the dryer does not turn off when clothes are dry. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the DIY forums busygal :)

Not the pro here, but...have you checked to see if the vent or duct is not clogged?

It's not clogged. We just hooked it up recently with a new vent. The prior owner had the same problem and they kept it meticulously clean.

I called the local appliance parts store and asked them for a price on a "moisture sensor" and they could not find one for this model dryer.

More information on the problem. I had plenty of time last night so I just let the dryer run to see how long it would go. I set the timer on the star for automatic dryer regular. After about an hour and a half the clothes appeared to be dry but I let it keep going. It finally cut off after 2 and 1/2 hours.
