has anybody ever heard of putting their washer & dryer in the bedroom closet?

I do not like where mine is located & the only other space available is in the master closet... any suggestions why this is a bad idea?

Thanks!

I havent done it, but Ive seen it. The issues would be getting water, power and drainage to the closet and hopefully no water leakage problems.
Not necessarally a bad idea, just different than the norm.

Don't think I've seen it
But I can't think of any reason why not

The hook-ups could be an issue
And your bedroom would now be your laundry room

I'm sure you wouldn't want to throw a load in before you go to bed
And it might cost a bit for hook-ups
But if you can deal with those, and they will fit in there...

I've seen it done but never as the primary laundry area. I think doing so might affect the resale value of your home. A second, smaller stackable washer/dryer unit, placed in what must be a fabulously large master closet, would be an option that would add to your home's value while giving you some relief.

I've seen pictures of laundry rooms off the bedroom. If you have room in your master closet I guess that would work. Plumbing it would probably be expensive unless your close enough to a bathroom to tie-in. Also, noise and an exhaust vent might be a problem.

Not a bad idea at all. My mom and sister recently remodeled their homes, and they put the washers and dryers in closets in the master suites. It made sense to them since that's where most of the clothes were, and it has worked out great.

It is generally thought unwise to put the washer and dryer on a second floor due to the fact that if the washer springs a leak, it can get quite messy, but theirs are on the second floor, but to them the benefits are outweighing a problem that most likely will not occur, and they made sure their homeowners insurance would cover any damage.

I put the W/D in an extra bedroom closet (I wanted a second floor laundry). I had to make the closet deeper (~4-6") and widen the opening to fit nicely. The hard part is definately getting water, drain, electricity (220v) or gas up there, also dryer venting. If its on the second floor you'll also need a drain pan and possibly beef up the flooring to prevent vibrations.

On the plus side, I don't think W/D connections prevent the area from serving its originally intended purpose. So the next owners could still use the area as a regular closet even with the W/D connections present.

How About the noise issue? Wouldn't be loud? I wouldn't want it in my living quarters [well, so close to it].
