My ceiling had a light sand texture added to the paint. Now that I've made some major repairs, I'm concerned about consistency when I repaint the ceiling.

What's the best proceedure to get a CONSISTENT look, when some of the ceiling obviously has a previous layer of sand texture in the paint, and rest of the ceiling is new & smooth?

The best procedure for your desired results is to scrape off the old texture on re-do the whole ceiling, either with or without texture

It is possible to feather in some new texture in the repair areas, but whether or not it will look consistent enough for you would depend on your skills and your needs
There's no "spot" procedure that always works and looks consistent enough to meet everyone's needs

I agree, sand texture is probably the hardest texture to try and blend in. Used to see sand texture a lot, not so much any more.
