I have a fairly new gas range, and I'm wondering if it is normal to smell gas when the oven first lights. The smell lasts for about 5 minutes, I'm not sure if it is because it is lingering or what. I have had a technician out and he said it is fine. I also sometimes smell gas from the stove burners as well. I don't have any trouble with them lighting or anything.

Hello and Welcome cantdoitmyself to my Gas Appliances forum.
You will need to visually notice if all the ports (slots or holes) on the oven burner light up. Do so evenly and completely around the entire surface of the burner. Burner may need cleaning, especially near the igniter.
Remove any white powdery substance , etc. Burner may not always light fully but likely did when tech was there prior. May happen only occasionally. When burner is either hot or cold or some time in between, etc. More detail info in the sticky note in this forum topic.
Retail parts dealers and appliances parts stores can also help determine what the possible problem may be based upon that specific brand and model. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Dealers and appliances parts stores are listed in the phone book.
Additional Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers on line web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes, solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, pictorials, schematics, repair and or owners manuals which may be available on line.
Cautionary Reminder Note:
Before attempting any repairs, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall receptacle power source first.
