This is my third go at laying a floor. Each time I say this is the last. However this time I will lay prefinished 3/4" flooring, 2 1/4" wide strips.
Question, how do I start and finish the flooring? The first 5 rows and the last 5 rows as I remember, I cannot use the stapler gun as the front or the back of the stapler has to have that distance away from the wall to fit. So for those first and last five I need an alternative method.
What I have been using is nailing a 2 x 4 into the old floor and pounding a wooden wedge inbetween it and the planks to tighten the planks against themselves. Then drilling a hole in the plank and then manually nailing the it ad nauseum.
There has GOT to be a better way. Can you help me?
