How do I remove the adhesive from those glow in the dark stars from the ceiling?

The product that comes to mind to try is Goo-Gone.This is an adhesive removing product that is not solvent based and therefore might not damage paint etc.
If you plan to paint the ceiling you could play around with some solvent products like lighter fluid etc. but you'd need to be careful and to expect impact on the finish/paint underneath the adhesive.I'd stay away from full blown solvents like acetone etc but paint thinner is a possibilty.
You'll just have to see if the residue can be removed and leave the surface uneffected enough to not need a coat of paint.All depends on how heavy the residue is and the condition etc of the underlying paint.

If you don't have success removing the adhesive [which is best] you can prime the areas with pigmented shellac and sand when dry - of course this means repainting the ceiling.
