Hello, I am looking for some advice and instruction on staining and finishing unfinished red oak cabinets. The look I am hoping to achieve is that of a deep rich wine colored mahogany with a smooth finish with a glaze coat defining the crevices, not sure what color glaze to use and would like some advice on that. If any one can please tell me step by step from prep to finish to achieve the best results (sanding,conditioning,pre-stain,grain filler-including best color, dyes, stains-liquid or gel,finish-shellac,laquer or poly) I was thinking of using minwax but now not sure what brands do you recommed, I want to use oil-based products. I have been searching the net for the answers and can't find exactly what I need to know I want to have these come out beautiful and can use and would greatly appreciate any and all advice and help offered.
Thank you,
Cee

There isn't room here to tell you all you ask. There are good books available at home/hardware, Borders, etc., stores on the subject of finishing wood.

can you spray lacquer? if so, can you get ml campbell in your area? what you are asking is pretty easy with lacquer.
