I just moved into a house with a DSC 1575 system and the basic LED panel. It's my first home security system! Anyway, the previous owners did not leave ANY info (manual, codes, etc.) I have found the users manual online and some of the programming info here. I want to use this system unmonitored (at least for now).

What I am wondering is if I should just hire a professional to come in and help me out. I do not know the master code (or any codes for that matter). I tried 1575 (I think that is the default) but it did not work. I just want to be able to arm this thing when I leave or go to sleep. I am weary of just resetting to factory default because then I'll have to reprogram all the zones (although this may be my only choice).

I did unplug the unit from AC and battery to reset it. When I plugged it back in it did not click 10 times, so the unit does not appear to be locked (but the battery is dead).

So do I need to reset the whole thing, or is there another way to reset or retrieve the master code or installer code? Reprogramming it should not be rocket science, but I don't want to reprogram it incorrectly either.
Suggestions?

With DSC panels, without the installer code, you are pretty much stuck needing to to a hardware default of the panel. If you are not comfortable messing with it, you will probably be happier letting someone else do the default and reset.

Well, I called the company that originally installed the unit and they were no help. I suppose I am going to have to reset this thing to default and reprogram it. It's a basic 6 zone setup so I don't think it will be that hard *finger crossed*.
I'll post back with my results.
