I am finsihing up prepping the trim in my house to paint. I am painting all the interior trim (base and casing)semi gloss white. I have all holes filled and everything caulked. The walls are also primed. I am going to tape all the windows and floors off and spray. My question is should I tape off the walls next to the doors and just above the base so I dont get overspray on the wall? I will be painting the walls with latex eggshell (bone white). I am concerned about the eggshell going over the semi gloss. Or should I just spray all the trim, wait for the trim to dry, then tape off the trim and paint the walls?

thks......Larry

What type of semi-gloss are you using for the woodwork? oilbase? latex? waterborne?

If both are latex it shouldn't be a big problem but coverage over enamel overspray is harder than over flat paint/primer.

Personally I'm not fond of spraying the finish coat on woodwork [I do prefer to spray the doors on new homes] The act of brushing enamel on the woodwork will help to hide any small imperfections in the caulk and putty job - spraying tends to highlight them.

Using latex for woodwork.

Thanks!!
