Is there a difference in tile. I like an 18X18 floor tile and wonder if it would be ok to use for a shower inclosure. If so any limitations to grout width. I think it would look better if the grout lines were as small as possible. Also, are there companies that will make bullnose pieces from some of these tiles.

I've put lots of floor tile on walls. It's actually fairly popular. If there is a company that can make bull nose out of your tiles, I'd like to know who it is. Just a suggestion, but I think I'd do the side walls on the diagonal and the rear wall straight. The side walls aren't very deep and tiles that size look kind of funny unless they're diagonal.

Thanks for the quick reply, and suggestion. Do you also have any thoughts about the size of the grout lines?

I normally use 1/4 inch. They provide a little "fudge factor" room. Smaller grout lines look nice, but require more meticulous attention to detail.

Last question. Without bull nose, how do you handle outside corners and the last vertical row into the room.

Schluter makes a metal strip to butt the edges to that finishes the edge and the outside corners can be mitered. You can also trim it out with wood or do a miter all the way down the edge to return the finished surface back to the wall. Another option is to use something different that is available in bull nose to trim the edges out with and give it a little different look. Your options are only limited by your imagination.

I have found a company that will do bullnose on existing tiles. Their web site is www.americanbullnose.com. Several locations. The one in Denver charges a minimum of $50.00, with a per piece of $4.50 for 4X18 and 3X18.

Hey I checked that site out. It looks like they'll make bullnose to match anything, glazed ceramic, porcelain, natural stone. Very interesting stuff.
