I sent the following message to Honeywell. Anyone have any ideas on how this should be wired??? Help
Dear Honeywell,
I am a homeowner who has purchased and had installed a power flow humidifier Model # HE365BI004 with a HI008A control on a gas Trane XE-60 furnace. Purchased on 12/22/06 from Bel-Aire Electronic Airc1eaners, Attleboro, Mass. The unit was installed on Jan 3, 2007 using the instructions that came with the control and with the humidifier. These are ambiguous at best. The installer left indicating that the unit was operating properly. It wasn't and hasn't. I recalled the installer and he returned and checked it out again. The problem of erratic attempts to operate the humidifier by the control persisted. He decided that the control must be bad. I returned it to Bel-Aire and they sent me new one. Same problem. The unit kicks on for maybe 30 seconds then shuts down. This occurs whether the fan is operating or not. The house humidity stayed at about 30% and is now at 20% with the colder weather.
At this point I called out another HV AC contractor, Price and James, Berea, OH. Their technician came, was confused by the wiring diagram and called your Honeywell technician phone line. Here he was told that the "optional" wire connected to the right side "G" terminal was in fact not optional and needed to be wired to the fan relay or something like that. The P and J tech did that and off he went. Still the same problem. What is going on?
I need some help. Several of the diagrams indicate the need for a current sensing relay. The HI008B specifically states in the instructions that one is NOT needed. I have invested over $450 in an attempt to get your product to work in my home and it doesn't. I am enclosing copies of the various wiring diagrams so that you can see the ambiguity they present.

Your unit should be wired like on Fig.8 on page 5 of your install manual.
-Red wires from the Humidifer should go going to to hot/com on humidistat.
-Yellow wire from the humidifer should go to HUM on the humidistat.
then
Out to Out should have a jumper, or outdoor sensor.
-G from humidstat go to G on the furnace board.
-CG/CW should go to C on the furnace board
-W to W on furnace.
I don't think the manual was that bad to read.

Thanks Jay, Figure 8 on pg 5 is for a drum style humidifier, which probably doesn't matter because figure 6 is wired the same way. Unfortunately, this is the way it was installed and still came on randomly. The problem has to be in the wiring for the control. Does a current sensing relay and a simpler humidstat make any sense? We must got a diffrent print of the manual.
A simple humidistat will work, I had one, and it was too large of a swing, and now I have the VP, IAQ t-stat on mine.
