I just remodeled my 1/2 bath. The last think to do is get the pedestal sink in. I open the boxes and set the base in the location. However, the sink top just doesn't seem to line up properly over the base and it's really annoying me. It's an American Standard Williamsburg sink from Home Depot. I have the right top and base but they just won't seat right. The problem is that the sink is way out in from of the base in order to get that "skirt" of the sink to overlap the top of the pedestal to give the look of a seamless connection. However, with that, the drain won't fit in because the sinnk is so far forward. It just looks like by looking at the sink and the base that the shapes aren't compatible. The sink has a more tapped "v" "skirt" on it with the base being more of a "u", which if you try to overlay a v over a u you'll understand what I mean, that the "v" has to go way out front to drop over it.

I guess my problem is that it doesn't work or look right. Could American Standard have screwed the sink up? I guess I can go to HD and look at the floor model.

Have you tried calling Home Depot?...or gone back there to see what the display model looks like?

Just got back and basically, the model in my box seems like a previous of the same Williamsburg line. I found the top online but unavailable. The floor model has the right top and the same base as I do but for some reason they had this model top still in stock.

Long story short, when you buy at places like Home Depot and Lowe's with their exclusive contracts with these places, invariably you get screwed. And even worse, no one there had a clue and no one of course wants to take any responsibility because they don't care.

The reason I'm so annoyed is that they also sell the toilet and tank, which I bought. The tank ONLY comes with a chrome lever. HOWEVER, HD doesn't carry any of the chrome assessories... toilet paper holder, towel bar, towel ring, robe hook. They carry the satin and brass but if you want the AVAILABLE chrome, you have to special order it for roughly twice the price. Oh, and you can't just order a satin or brass handle for the toilet, it's chrome only. So you either look like a moron not coordinating your faucet and accessories with your toilet or buy the chrome accessories for twice the price.

I basically am sick of these places.

I was at Menard's the other day and was looking at and identifying the faucet for the lady I am helping as a Tuscany; a decent looking single lever faucet with sprayer. I told Menard's I need the diverter for it, (to replace the lady's bad one). The guy in plumbing said that if i just bring in the other faucet (no receipt needed as it is their brand line, he said) they will give me an entire new faucet for free!
