I'm looking to remodel our 30 year old bathroom which now has a standard bathtub. We really only take showers but I'm afraid to put in a shower (with no tub) for resale purposes. Does anyone know of a design that is mainly a shower but does have a low basin that can be used as a bathtub?

Is this your only bath? Our house, built in 1978 has a master bath with a step in shower unit. Love it! The guest bath has a regular tub with shower. Convenient for those who like to relax. I can't see where it would have had an affect on our purchasing the house. But since it has both, it is a plus.

I haven't seen anything like what you describe. If you have a tub somewhere in the house I think you could convert to a shower only. But you need at least one tub in the house for resale.

Thanks....This is the only tub so I guess I'll just replace it. Any hints on removing the old tub? (I think it's porcelain over castiron......circa 1975 & came with our new house)

If its cast iron you'll have to bust it up into pieces to get it out. Cover everything in the bathroom that you dont want banged up. I use some old furniture moving pads, they work great for this. Wear gloves, head and eye protection and have at it with a sledge hammer.
