I am having some existing wood floors refinished and some new white oak flooring installed and the two areas are going to abutt each other. Questions are: When they refinish a floor how much material are they removing?. Second questions, after the floor is sanded (the old and the new), will the wood match (both are white oak). Third question, is the standard practice to just apply 3 coats of an oil based sealer or is stain involved?
Thanks for any assistance you gave give.

Those are questions for your flooring contractor and you to discuss. We cannot see your job.
